Aurora Sector Studio 0.4.5-Alpha4: Project Authoring and Sector-Format Conformance

By Peter

Version 0.4.5-Alpha4 adds workflows for creating projects and documents, and improves compatibility with the Aurora sector-file format. The Windows installer and portable ZIP are available on the download page.

Project and document authoring

  • New Sector Project guides you through destination, FIR, project name and primary airport. It creates the project manifest, root .isc, initial FIX and airport gates files, and resolved include graph, then opens the project.
  • New Document creates untitled tabs for supported Aurora file types, with syntax-highlighting hints and a Ctrl+N shortcut.
  • Save As supports text documents, with overwrite confirmation, duplicate-tab protection and Save All support for unnamed documents.

Project output and parsing

  • Generated projects have numeric [INFO] projection defaults that the application can parse immediately. They use valid // comments for disabled include examples and the documented HIGH/LOW ARTCC placeholder filenames.
  • The [INFO] reader accepts whole-line // comments and an optional seventh value for QDM variation. An invalid ratio no longer discards magnetic variation.
  • GEO rows may omit the optional colour/style field; the editor uses DEFAULT internally.
  • Airport labels accept the documented visibility tag 2, while retaining compatibility with legacy value 0.
  • Optional ATC D-ATIS paths are preserved.

Editing and diagnostics

Opening an .isc editor tab works again after correcting the highlighting binding. The Problems panel now reports malformed F; include declarations, invalid disabled includes and unsafe inline comments. Missing or malformed root [INFO] projection values have source-located diagnostics.

The project, document, parser and validation changes have automated test coverage. Further sector-format work remains on the roadmap. Graphical SID/STAR authoring is outside this Alpha 4 release.
